Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (must possess a N1-N4 License) based in Kearny, NJ. The role involves overseeing wastewater treatment plant operations, monitoring processes, maintaining pump stations, and ensuring compliance with operational standards. The operator will perform routine inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, maintain records, and adhere to environmental regulations. Collaborative teamwork and attention to detail are essential in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Chemical batching for industrial wastewater treatment
- Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine water treatment system operational status
- Collect and test water and wastewater samples, using field testing equipment and color analysis standards
- Record and prepare routine reports for operational data on specified forms/electronic data summary logs and spreadsheets
- Operate and adjust controls on equipment to treat wastewater for inorganic and organic constituents
- Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools
- Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, process conveyance lines, pumps and other work areas using hand tools, power tools and mobile equipment (lull, forklift, loader)
- Coordinate plant workers engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical systems and controls from 12-volt DC to 480 Volts AC
- Assist in all levels of operation, maintenance and monitoring of industrial wastewater treatment facilities
Qualifications
- Must possess a NJDEP N-License for Wastewater Treatment
- Must be familiar with NJDEP rules and regulations
- Proficiency in Plant Operations and Process Control, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in treatment plant operations
- Effective technical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Ability to follow strict safety and regulatory compliance standards
Compensation
- $30-$55 per hour based on license and experience
