Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and HazMat endorsements within 6 months of hire.
- One (1) Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certification in Wastewater Collection upon hire. Must obtain Grade II ADEQ Certification in the Wastewater Collection within one year of hire.

Wastewater Collection is looking for a motivated and dependable Utility System Operator II to join our team. This position is an opportunity for an operator who takes pride in their work, wants to continue developing their skills, and is interested in learning all aspects of wastewater collection operations.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is willing to learn, takes initiative, works well with others, and is committed to providing reliable service to the community. The Utility System Operator II will be responsible for a variety of duties including lift station operations and maintenance, sewer system inspections, hydro-cleaning, CCTV inspections, manhole inspections, pump maintenance, emergency response, and troubleshooting of wastewater collection system issues.
Wastewater Collection operates and maintains a large and growing wastewater collection system, including numerous lift stations and miles of sewer infrastructure. As the City continues to grow, additional lift stations and infrastructure will be added to the system, creating additional responsibilities and opportunities for the division.
We are looking for an operator who wants to be more than just an employee—someone who wants to become a valuable member of the team, develop their knowledge and abilities, and take on additional responsibilities as they gain experience. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work alongside experienced operators and gain hands-on experience with the equipment, technology, and processes used to maintain the City's wastewater collection system.
Safety, teamwork, communication, accountability, and customer service are important components of this position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to help others, and the ability to work independently while also contributing to the overall success of the team.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for an operator who is motivated to advance their career, expand their knowledge of wastewater collection operations, and play an important role in maintaining the City's critical infrastructure.
