Specialty Consulting, Inc. (SPC), is a Hispanic–owned, infrastructure engineering and scientific consulting firm based in Chicago. Established in 2003, the firm offers structural-architectural engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, and occupational safety consulting services. We maintain a staff of over 70 technical professionals delivering specialty consulting services for new infrastructure development, expansion, and renovation throughout Illinois and beyond, and we are adding to the team.
Specialty Consulting Inc. is seeking a self-motivated staff level Environmental Field Technician to join our growing team in Hoffman Estates. Candidate will work closely with Project Managers in implementing project tasks to meet client objectives and priorities; perform field work, site investigation and characterization, including sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight; soil manifesting; and documentation of field activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide field and office support on a variety of environmental services
- Perform field data collection and documentation related to site investigations; observation of drilling operations; installation of water wells or soil borings, lithological logging; and various field tests and measurements of soil, air, surface water and/or groundwater properties.
- Provide oversight of investigation and remediation subcontractors including laboratories, excavation and drilling companies
- Prepare written reports, tables, spreadsheets, and maps for client and regulatory agency review
REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in the environmental consulting or construction industry a plus
- Strong oral and technical writing skills
- Ability to pass a background check and OSHA physical
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clean driving and criminal record, pass annual medical physicals and random drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to travel for work on a scheduled and occasional non-scheduled emergency basis
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
