Job Summary
True North Consultants is a growing environmental consulting firm that offers continuing growth, stable leadership and views employees as valuable resources. We are seeking a self-motivated Environmental Scientist (Mid-Level), with 2-3 years of experience, to join our team in Naperville, Illinois, and become an integral part of our continued success. The full-time position will provide task level support to project managers and engineers.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct environmental assessments, implement field sampling programs (soil, groundwater, etc.), and manage remediation tasks under the direction of senior staff.
- Prepare project reports, deliverables, and proposals using standardized templates with high accuracy.
- Assist in project management by coordinating the scheduling of projects and deliverables for the team to ensure all tasks are completed on time, meet budgets, and contribute to overall profitability.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing clear communication on project activities and status while fostering positive professional relationships.
- Apply technical understanding of state voluntary clean-up programs, leaking underground storage programs, and federal/local environmental regulations.
- Provide clear communication of procedures and project status to the team, and coordinate with various vendors for project execution.
- Prioritize and maximize time on billable project activities to achieve an annual utilization goal of 82%.
- Actively seek networking and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and build foundational knowledge for future business development.
- Local travel of 50-75% is expected.
- 2nd/3rd shift or weekend work may be required from time to time.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: BA/BS in Science Related Discipline, or an Associate Degree in a related field, or OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER and current with annual refresher certification
- Years of Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or field-based environmental work.
- Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Professional Licenses/Certifications Preferred: OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER and 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher
- A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are also required
- Medical approval by the Company's appointed physician, after employment is accepted, prior to the first day of work
