TITLE: WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR
FSLA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
DAY SHIFT: MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM
REPORTS TO: SR MANAGER, FACILITIES
Summary
Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Facilities, the Wastewater Treatment Operator operates and maintains systems that treat and process wastewater to ensure safe environmental discharge and compliance with regulations. The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as pumps, ion exchange, chemical feed systems, etc., as well as performing routine maintenance and repair on equipment, collecting samples, and monitoring chemicals. This position is located in Milpitas, CA.
Essential Functions
- Monitors and operates treatment systems such as pumps, ion exchange, chemical feed systems, pH neutralization, and metal recovery system ensure proper wastewater processing and effluent quality in compliance with NPDES and other regulations
- Collects and analyzes samples of influent and effluent to monitor chemical and physical characteristics, performs laboratory tests, and maintains accurate records and logs
- Performs maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, and control systems, and makes minor adjustments to prevent system failures (i.e. MRS system)
- Calibrates and troubleshoots monitoring instruments (i.e. pH probes, etc.)
- Ensures wastewater and hazardous waste are disposed of in accordance with safety and environmental standards
- Maintains operational logs for regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
- Responds to emergencies such as equipment malfunctions or system alarms
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience working as a waste treatment operating in an electronics manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of current environmental, health and safety regulations, and reporting
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of current environmental, health and safety regulations, and reporting
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment principles for acid waste neutralization and ion exchange for heavy metals absorption
- Knowledge and experience in emergency response and spill clean up
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management
- Able to work independently and with others
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of contractors, consultants, employees, management, and vendors
- Able to work productively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management
- Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to follow complex verbal or written instructions

The hourly rate for this full-time position is between $20.00-$31.25 + bonus target + benefits. Within the range the individual pay may differ depending on additional factors including job responsibilities, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience. The hourly pay range shown is subject to change and may be modified periodically.
Working Conditions
The Wastewater Treatment Operator works in both an indoor and outdoor environment Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the wastewater and treatment pad. May travel from building-to-building as needed and be exposed to various chemicals and confined spaces. May need to work in a class 100 ESD sensitive wafer manufacturing facility; wears a cleanroom (bunny) suit, including hood, gloves, safety glasses, booties, and mask. May be exposed to loud noise. Stands and walks, bends, twists, and crawls; wears a respirator to adhere to safety requirements. Performs various fine grasping movements; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard. Operates a telephone and other office equipment. Must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
