Employment Opportunity
Under the general direction of a Plant Operation Coordinator and Field Supervisor, this position is responsible for the maintenance, treatment and operation of the Orem Water Reclamation Facility and City lift stations. The Public Utilities Operator is responsible for the end-to-end operation and maintenance of the Water Reclamation Facility and City lift stations. This includes monitoring and adjusting mechanical equipment like pumps, motors, and chemical feed systems, while performing routine sampling and laboratory analysis to ensure effective process control. Beyond daily operations, the role involves conducting preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical systems to maintain continuous uptime. Operators must accurately document all operational data to ensure strict adherence to state and federal discharge regulations, participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency responses, and maintain a rigorous commitment to safety protocols, including confined space entry and proper chemical handling.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
Certification Requirement: Utah Wastewater Treatment Operator Grade I through IV Certification is preferred, but it is not a requirement for application or initial hire.
Pay and Benefits
Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience. The City also provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
Schedule
Full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, structured as five (5) 8-hour days.
