GENERAL DESCRIPTION This is skilled work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater reclamation facility, reuse facilities, collection systems and lift stations. Includes assisting in both preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, machinery and related apparatus. Works in supervisory capacity occasionally when and where appropriate. Example: supervision of trainees, special projects. Work is carried out under the general supervision of the Chief Wastewater Operator and is reviewed through observation, conversation, and evaluation of results achieved. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain process at established parameters. Perform laboratory testing and analysis for review of plant performance and make necessary recommendations and adjustments to the plant for process control. Inspection of plant equipment, machinery, and apparatus to ensure all are operating properly. Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance, example; lubrication, oil changes, pump installation. Frequently works in extreme weather, noxious fumes, heights, confined areas and with chemicals. Occasionally works in areas of excessive noise. Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned . NON‑ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Cleaning of clarifiers, sand filters, landscaping, maintenance of irrigation systems, building, house-keeping, maintaining appearance inside and out. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of process control procedures and principles of wastewater treatment, pump stations, collection systems, and reuse distribution. Knowledge of chemical feed systems to maintain regulatory compliance. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work environment. Knowledge of SCADA systems for plant operations, data analysis, and historical trending for reviewing plant performance. Ability to maintain effective working relationship with employees. Ability to interpret lab analysis and make necessary adjustments to ensure a steady state of operations. Proper record keeping. Knowledge of proper use and care/cleaning of lab glassware, including pipets, beakers, flasks, burettes; knowledge of proper use and care/cleaning of magnetic mixer, pH meters, chlorine analyzers, turbidity analyzers, D.O. meters, ORP meters, Hach DR3900 meter, water bath/incubator/muffle furnace, scale/microscope, T.K.N. equipment, automatic/hand sampling devices. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must possess an active FDEP Class 'A, B, or C' Wastewater Operators Certification Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license. EQUIPMENT USED Water Reclamation Facility process control equipment including chlorine residual analyzer, turbidity analyzer, pH analyzer, and laboratory testing equipment. Power, hand tools, and equipment used in the operation and maintenance of the facilities.
