Carmichael Water District is looking to fill one Distribution Operator I/II/ or III position.
Reporting to the Distribution Superintendent, the Distribution Operator I/II/ and III (non-exempt) perform a variety of unskilled to skilled labor and technical work in the construction and maintenance of pipelines and water services; construction work in the fabrication and assembly of utility water projects.

SALARY:
The annual salary range is:
Distribution Operator I - $54,715.23 - $61,843.60
Distribution Operator II - $85,271.68 - $96,380.96
Distribution Operator III - $96,563.17 - $109,143.22
REQUIREMENTS:
- Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade
- Proof of good driving record as evidenced by freedom from multiple or serious traffic violations or accidents for at least two years' duration.
Distribution Operator I
- Possess and maintain a SWRCB Grade D1 Certification within 12 months
- Possess and maintain a SWRCB Grade D2 Certification within 24 months from date of hire.
- Possess and maintain a State of California Class C driver’s license.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of California Class B or Class A commercial driver’s license within 24 months from the date of hire
Distribution Operator II
- Possess and maintain a SWRCB Grade D2 Certification.
- One full-time year equivalent to a Distribution Operator 1 (DO1) with the Carmichael Water District.
- Possess and maintain a State of California Class C driver’s license.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of California Class B or Class A commercial driver’s license within 12 months from the date of hire
Distribution Operator III
- Possess and maintain a SWRCB Grade D3 Certification.
- Two full-time years of increasingly responsible experience working as a distribution operator, including one full-time year equivalent to a Distribution Operator 2 (DO2) with the Carmichael Water District.
- Possess and maintain a valid State of California Class B or Class A commercial driver’s license.
BENEFITS:
The District pays for the benefits for employees and their eligible dependents.
CalPERS Medical: The District District will contribute monthly ninety-five percent (95%) of the average premium costs of an eligible employee’s elected medical coverage (employee only, employee + one dependent, or employee and 2+ dependents (family coverage)) from the following CalPERS Health Sacramento Area Region plans: Blue Shield Access + HMO, Blue Shield Trio HMO, Kaiser Permanente, PERS Gold, and Western Health Advantage
Dental, Vision, EAP, Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance: Fully paid for employees and their eligible dependents.
Retirement: CalPERS defined benefit pension:
- Classic members: 2% @ 55 benefit formula.
- PEPRA (new) members: 2% @ 62 benefit formula.
Retiree Health Benefits: The District participates in the CalPERS retiree health program and contributes to retiree health for employees who retire from the District with at least 5 years of service and a minimum of 10 years credited service in CalPERS. The District’s contribution toward post-retirement coverage for employees and their eligible dependents is based on the employees’ total credited years of qualifying service.
Annual Leave Accrual: Vacation: 12 days/year up to the 5th year with increases based on service time. Sick Leave: 12 days/year.
