RVE an Ardurra company is seeking a water/wastewater inspector with experience in the field of water and sewer construction.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with gravity sanitary main, sanitary force main, pump station and wastewater treatment plant components and operation. The individual should also be versed in water main installation, water supply distribution systems and the components and operation of water treatment plants. The individual may also inspect storm sewer systems and roadway construction. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in this field. They will provide construction observation and project management services for municipal and county agencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Perform constructability and plan reviews prior to construction. Interact with the design engineer with input before the project goes out to bid.
- Perform construction management services for projects that consist of water supply and sanitary distribution systems. Including work in water and wastewater plants. Ensure the job site is maintained in a safe, neat, and orderly fashion by the contractor.
- Provide inspection of contractors work to ensure that the work is being performed as per plans and specifications and regulatory requirements. Communicate with the project manager daily about the progress on the project. Keep the client informed of the project’s progress.
- Attending and running pre-construction & weekly progress meetings with the client and contractor and give input on issues that arise during construction. Follow through with RFIs to maintain the project runs as scheduled and communicate with Engineering Team.
- Conduct on-site observations of the work in progress to assist Engineer in determining if the Work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents, both alone and/or as part of a team.
- Keep a diary or logbook of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide Engineer with daily reports to include all labor trades and equipment supplied by Contractor.
- Review applications for payment with Contractor and confer with Engineer on recommendations for progress payments.
- Be knowledgeable of NJDEP procedures and requirements for management of a project.
- Perform field testing of materials installed and start-up and acceptance of equipment.
- Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout.
- Construction and building inspectors examine worksites, both alone and as part of a team. Some inspectors climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces. Most work full time during regular business hours.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Applicant must have demonstrated experience in water/wastewater inspections.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work with others and the public
- Self-motivated, organized, and focused, with good attention to detail
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of construction observation or construction experience directly related to one of the following disciplines: water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and water / wastewater treatment systems, and roadway construction.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Microsoft outlook.
