Position Overview
CRB is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, remediation projects, and industrial hygiene services.
This is a field-intensive position requiring direct experience with soil and groundwater sampling, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation and development, and environmental field documentation. The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in commercial, industrial, and construction environments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and technical accuracy.
This is not an entry-level position. Applicants must possess prior environmental consulting field experience.
Candidates must reside in Miami-Dade or Broward County and be able to travel throughout South Florida and occasionally throughout the Southeast.
Primary ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Site Investigations
- Support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and subsurface investigations.
- Conduct soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling activities in accordance with approved work plans and regulatory requirements.
- Perform low-flow groundwater sampling and groundwater gauging using standard environmental protocols.
- Measure static water levels and document field parameters using water quality meters.
- Collect and preserve environmental samples while maintaining strict chain-of-custody procedures.
- Prepare sample coolers and coordinate laboratory shipments.
- Coordinate with laboratories, drilling contractors, and project managers to ensure successful project execution.
Drilling Oversight and Monitoring Wells
- Oversee drilling subcontractors during soil boring and monitoring well installation activities.
- Document lithology and prepare detailed soil boring logs.
- Supervise monitoring well construction and verify installation procedures.
- Develop monitoring wells using pumps, bailers, surge blocks, or other appropriate methods.
- Conduct monitoring well maintenance and abandonment activities.
- Perform aquifer recovery measurements and support hydraulic testing when required.
- Ensure drilling activities comply with project specifications and health and safety requirements.
Field Documentation and Data Collection
- Maintain accurate field notes and daily field reports.
- Prepare boring logs, groundwater sampling forms, and well construction logs.
- Photograph site conditions and maintain organized project documentation.
- Operate field instruments including PID meters, water quality meters, interface probes, and GPS equipment.
- Download and manage field data for project managers and technical staff.
- Assist with preparation of figures, tables, and supporting documentation for reports.
Industrial Hygiene Support
- Assist with asbestos inspections and bulk sampling.
- Support mold assessments and indoor air quality investigations.
- Conduct moisture mapping and collect air and surface samples.
- Perform field activities associated with water intrusion investigations and remediation projects.
Health and Safety
- Follow OSHA and HAZWOPER requirements and site-specific health and safety plans.
- Work safely around active construction sites, industrial facilities, and heavy equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance and interact effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of environmental consulting field experience.
- Direct experience performing soil and groundwater sampling.
- Experience overseeing drilling operations and documenting soil borings.
- Experience with monitoring well installation, development, and groundwater monitoring activities.
- Familiarity with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.
- Experience maintaining chain-of-custody documentation and sample management procedures.
- Experience operating environmental field equipment, including
- Ability to read and follow work plans, sampling plans, and health and safety plans.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (current or ability to obtain immediately).
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and transport field equipment and sample coolers.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with remediation system operation and maintenance.
- Experience with vapor intrusion investigations and sub-slab vapor sampling.
- Experience with groundwater recovery and free-product gauging.
- Asbestos Inspector license or mold assessment experience.
- Experience with soil classification and lithologic logging.
- Familiarity with Florida DEP and EPA sampling protocols.
- OSHA 8-Hour Refresher current.
- Experience supporting commercial real estate due diligence projects.
Work Environment and Travel
This position is primarily field-based and requires daily travel to project sites throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and surrounding areas. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, around drilling rigs, construction equipment, industrial facilities, and active remediation sites. Early morning mobilizations and extended field days are common depending on project schedules.
The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence, maintain technical accuracy, and represent CRB professionally in the field.
Work Environment and Schedule
This is a field-based environmental consulting role with daily travel to project sites. Early morning site visits and extended field days may be required depending on project schedules. Some overnight travel within Florida may occasionally be required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
