Position Summary: The Farm Animal Specialist oversees the Community Development program that provides direct and indirect support to church partners in the field that are involved in Bible translation. The Farm Animal Specialist provides oversight to team members serving in the field including work in new countries, new community development projects, and the development of sustainable development plans in conjunction with church partners.
Job Responsibilities
- Leadership oversight and coordination in relation to Community Development projects so that the program can be advanced globally.
- Work closely with the Director of Support Services and the VP of Field Services in order to plan and enhance the Community Development program in accordance with the Field Services Tactical Plan.
- Provide assistance and consultation for water and farm animal projects through effective communication and research, responsible resource management, training and education, and networking and relationships.
- Work in collaboration with Field Operations team members. other WA team members and church partners in order to advance Community Development projects internationally.
- Undertake an annual SWOT analysis of the Community Development Program to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to this initiative.
Specific Responsibilities
- Provide assistance and consultation for community development projects, through effective communication and research, responsible resource management, training and education, and networking and relationships
- Manage and promote the Community Development program to church leaders including freshwater projects, farm animal projects, agriculture projects and other micro-economic opportunities.
- Undertake effective communication and research, in order determine the legitimate need for water, agriculture, and farm animal projects, along with other projects.
- Work closely with Regional Directors to ensure effective communication with church partners who have been approved as a recipient of community development assistance.
- Document and communicate community development needs and outcomes so that potential donors are motivated to support projects in the future.
- Develop and refine the Community Development program to meet the specific needs of church partners.
- Provide professional Community Development project updates to WA staff so that the program can be expanded into new countries and regions.
- Work in collaboration with the WA Regional teams so that sustainable micro-economic ventures can be developed to support church partners who are undertaking COBT (church-owned Bible Translation) work.
- Develop relationships with organizations that offer community development initiatives so that WA can expand and enhance their current activities.
Additional Information
The Farm Animal Specialist will work closely with the Director of Support Services, the VP of Field Services and other WA team members to advance the Community Development projects within WA partners internationally.
Education, Prior Work Experience, And/or Specialized Skills And Knowledge
- B.A or B.S degree or equivalent job experience
- 3 years’ management experience (preferably in ministry).
- High level of administrative and management skills.
- Competent in CRM systems.
- Advanced communication skills—both verbal and written.
- Service oriented.
- Must have a demonstrated record of being a team leader with the ability to encourage and enable staff to be successful in their work.
- Must be able to work with technical people providing general direction and guidance.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff at Wycliffe Associates and our strategic partners.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Must be familiar with Wycliffe Associates and other partner organizations.
- Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally, as needed.
Other Qualifications
- Has a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and exhibits Christ-like behavior.
- Personal missional commitment to spread the knowledge of Jesus Christ through partnering with church leaders and Bible translators around the world.
- International field experience working in remote areas with marginalized people, a plus.
- Computer literate, possessing a working knowledge of administration and data processing programs, as well as a strong knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be familiar with Wycliffe Associates and become familiar with other partner organizations.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to establish effective, collaborative working relationships with staff at Wycliffe Associates, and other partner organizations.
- Must be able to follow accounting practices established by the WA Finance Department.
- Available to attend, participate, or lead chapel services by remote or onsite engagement.
- Must be in full agreement and abide by the WA Statement of Faith and Practice, WA Handbook, Core Beliefs, Ethical Standards Agreement as well as other organizational commitments and policies.
