Title: Full time Water/Sewer Operator
Overview: The City of Marquette Heights is seeking a dedicated and skilled Water/Sewer Operator to join our team. As a vital member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the water and sewer systems in our community. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of water and the proper treatment of wastewater.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain water treatment and distribution systems according to regulatory standards and company policies.
- Conduct routine inspections and tests to assess the condition and performance of water and sewer infrastructure.
- Monitor water quality parameters and make adjustments to treatment processes as necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, meters, and other equipment related to water and sewer operations.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations such as leaks, breaks, and sewer backups, and take appropriate corrective actions.
- Record and maintain accurate documentation of operational activities, including readings, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions effectively.
- Comply with safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in water treatment or wastewater operations preferred.
- Previous experience working in water treatment, distribution, or sewer systems operations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of water and sewer system components, equipment, and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing water quality and environmental protection.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, contractors, and regulatory officials.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

**Supplemental Information:**
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,793.00 to $48,687.00 per year
Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:
· Monday – Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Ability and willingness to respond to after-hours call backs and emergency situations as necessary, and alternating weekend rounds (On-Call Pay)
License/Certification:
- Driver's License (Required)
- Class B CDL or higher license (Preferred)
- Water Operator License A or B preferred (Pay raise for having or obtaining water license)
