Role Description: Full time role for a Wastewater Operator III located in Maricopa , AZ. The wastewater operator performs a variety of semi-skilled work to maintain the wastewater systems, pumps, motors, and related appurtenances, sanitary sewers for the collection of wastewater, pumping equipment for water and wastewater, and water and wastewater treatment plant equipment and operations. Additionally, the operator may be subject to on-call work, emergency call back work and subject to shift work that may include nights and weekends. Grade 2 ADEQ Wastewater Certification preferred, Grade 1 ADEQ Wastewater Certification required. Possession of a valid Class B CDL Arizona Driver’s License and having a clean driving record with no restrictions is required. Qualifications:
•Performs corrective and preventive maintenance on the wastewater system, performing avariety of skilled and unskilled manual duties in the maintenance and care of thewastewater system including repair and other modifications to regulators, outfalls andmanhole structures that may be required to insure proper operation; cleaning and inspectingall sewer lines, interpreting and documenting the results of inspections; and to performother related duties as assigned.
•Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve operations by streamlining work processes,decreasing turnaround times, and working cooperatively and jointly to provide efficiency
and excellence in the use of resources. •Delivers outstanding customer service. Establishes and maintains open communicationwith all internal and external customers; to include co-workers, contractors, residents, andother Utility departments. Informs immediate supervisor of daily operations, importantdevelopments, and work activities.
•Adheres to industry and Utility safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures.Provides services in accordance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
•Executes routine and emergency operational, maintenance, construction, and repairfunctions of infrastructure or equipment utilized in the wastewater reclamation division.
•Operates all equipment used in wastewater reclamation facilities including pumps,motors, disinfection, odor control, and flow regulating devices. Operates sewer cleaningequipment, tank trucks, and various tools. Maintains the integrity of landscaping, checkswet wells and electrical panels, adjusts chemical feed rates, and completes work orders.
•Conducts daily inspections of reclamation facilities; process sampling, logs daily records;interprets readings from meters, gauges, charts, and instruments, and adjusts;accordingly, and detects mechanical or process deficiencies and communicates findingsto the supervisor.
•Conducts all company work related efforts and activities within the rules, regulations, andresponsibilities of the most current company safety policy and OHSA regulation.

Physical Demands: Sitting for extended periods; prolonged periods of time with repetitive motions of hands and fingers; close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus; climb stairs, navigate uneven terrain; use fingers to grasp and move small objects; ability to hear and recognize sounds; able to react quickly using hands, fingers, or feet; able to utilize personal protective equipment as appropriate for safety. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty pounds.
Facial hair for operations personnel shall not be allowed at points where the SCBA face piece is designed to contact and seal with the face (i.e. chin and jawline). Sideburns and mustaches will be trimmed and well-groomed as determined by the Operators Manager.
Work is performed in an office and outdoors where the employee may be exposed to noise from construction site heavy equipment and inclement weather.
Education/Knowledge: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge is equivalent to high school degree or equivalency.
Certifications and Other Requirements:
•An ADEQ Grade 1 Wastewater certificate is required with expectations of getting anADEQ Grade 2 Wastewater Certification within the next 12 months.
•Possession of a valid Class B CDL Arizona Driver’s License and having a clean drivingrecord with no restrictions is required.
Writing: Work requires the ability to write work orders, memos, letters, reports and keep accurate daily records at well sites, lift stations and treatment facilities. Managerial: Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others but may provide advice/direction to an employee with less experience/skill. Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a related field. Time Management: Ability to complete repairs and tasks in a timely fashion. Policy/Decision Making: The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review. Technical Skills: Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Limited analysis and independent thinking is utilized. Work requires understanding and knowledge of using SCADA. General: Must have satisfactory outcome of drug testing, criminal record checks, motor vehicle record, and employment records prior to starting employment. Licenses: Must have a valid Class B Arizona driver’s license with no restrictions. Location: Primary location will be the Global Water Center located in the Town of Maricopa.
