Licensed Wastewater Treatment Operator
NPDES / POTW / Industrial Facilities

We are seeking a licensed Wastewater Treatment Operator to support operations at Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) and industrial wastewater treatment facilities. This position is responsible for day-to-day operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance in accordance with NPDES permit requirements. The ideal candidate is a certified operator with strong process control knowledge and hands-on mechanical experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and control wastewater treatment processes at POTW and industrial facilities
- Maintain compliance with NPDES permit limits, monitoring, and reporting requirements
- Monitor and adjust treatment systems including pumps, valves, blowers, clarifiers, aeration systems, and chemical feed systems
- Collect, analyze, and interpret wastewater samples (flow, pH, DO, BOD, TSS, COD, nutrients, residuals)
- Complete or support Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) and compliance documentation
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical and process issues
- Identify process upsets and implement corrective actions to maintain permit compliance
- Maintain detailed operational logs and maintenance records
- Coordinate with supervisors, customers, and regulatory agencies as required
- Follow all safety protocols, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and hazardous materials handling
Required Qualifications
- Active state-issued Wastewater Operator License (municipal and/or industrial)
- Experience operating wastewater treatment systems at POTW and/or industrial facilities
- Working knowledge of NPDES permits, monitoring, and compliance reporting
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to perform operational and compliance calculations
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial pretreatment systems
- Familiarity with SCADA or automated control systems
