ABOUT THE DISTRICT
The Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District (the District) is an independent special district established by the
State of California in 1952 to manage wastewater collection and treatment, as well as protect the Vallejo
community from flooding. Operating separately from the City of Vallejo, the District’s dedicated team
works to enhance the city’s sanitary sewer and storm drain systems, delivering high-quality service to the
community.
Governance is provided by an eight-member Board of Trustees, composed of the seven Vallejo City Council
members and one at-large member appointed by the Solano County Board of Supervisors. With 98 full-
time equivalent employees and an annual budget of $74 million, the District is committed to safeguarding
public health, safety, and the environment through reliable wastewater and flood control services.

If you are a successful candidate for this position, you will be asked to take an Oath or Affirmation of
Allegiance for Public Employees. All Vallejo Flood and Wastewater
District employees are, by state and federal law, Disaster Service Workers. The roles and responsibilities for
Disaster Service Workers are authorized by the California Emergency Services Act and are defined in the
California Labor Code. In the event of a declaration of emergency, any employee may be assigned to
perform activities that promote the protection of public health and safety or the preservation of lives and
property. The assignment may require service at locations, times, and under conditions that are
significantly different from normal work assignments and may continue into the recovery phase of the
emergency. If a “Local Emergency” is declared during the employee’s shift, employees will be expected to
remain at work to respond to the community's emergency needs. If a “Local Emergency” is declared
