This position is an entry-level position and prior experience is not required. This employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job satisfactorily within 6 months.
The starting pay for this position with NO experience, is $16.26/ hr
Pay is based on your prior relevant experience.
Experience credit is also given for honorable military service.
Essential Functions Of Work
- Maintains Wastewater facilities and grounds
- Conducts sewer locates
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of the collection system and treatment plant
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow oral instruction
- Ability to use lawn equipment and maintenance equipment for general maintenance and housekeeping
- Limited decision and problem-solving required
- Ability to interact with other departments and the general public in a professional manner
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Valid Kansas Driver’s License, required and driving history that meets the requirements to be covered by the City’s insurance
Physical Requirements
- Frequently involves heavy physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push heavy objects up to 60 lbs. from floor to shoulder and occasional overhead lift of 25 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, shoveling, etc. required in conducting daily duties. This position involves outside work maintaining collection system around open trenches, construction equipment and occasionally vehicular traffic in all weather conditions. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and may occasionally include the use of respirators or breathing apparatus.
Benefits
Vacation Leave — Available after the end of the training period. Vacation accrues each pay period (every 2 weeks) and the accrual rate is based on years of service.
Sick Leave - Accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month, no wait period.
Holidays - The City provides 11 paid holidays.
Medical and Dental Insurance – The City covers at least 85% of the premiums of all plans. Available 1st of the month following the date of hire.
Retirement – After the training period, The City will contribute 7% of gross compensation into a 401a plan and will match up to 3% of employee contribution for a total of 10%.
