Water Pollution Control Operator IV Position at a Glance
This is technical work in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant. Work involves responsibility for overseeing the operation and maintenance activities at a wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift, and responsibility for ensuring the efficient and proper operation of the plant.
Qualifications And Necessary Special Requirements
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency and considerable experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
Valid Driver's License
Grade IV Wastewater Operator Certification from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. Equivalent certifications from states with a reciprocal relationship with the State of Alabama as defined by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management or the Summary of State Operator Certification Programs dated March 2016, may be accepted at time of hire but must be converted to an Alabama Certification within six (6) months of hire date.
The following requirements must be obtained within eighteen (18) months of hire and maintained thereafter:
Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) With Tanker Endorsement
Alabama Private Pesticide Applicator Permit from the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries
First Aid National Safety Council Certification or equivalent
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED)
National Safety Council Certification (NSC) or equivalent
Confined Space Entry Training Certificate
Trenching and Excavation Certificate
Chemical Spill Response Certificate
Temporary Traffic Control Certificate
Forklift Safety NSC Certification or equivalent
Defensive Driving 4-Hour NSC Certification or equivalent
