The
Environmental Services Coordinator supports the day-to-day logistics of the Environmental Services (EVS) team, ensuring all facilities are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and organization. This role helps ensure that quality and project goals set by the EVS Manager are consistently met.
- Schedule Availability: 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm, five days a week, including both weekend nights.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Leadership
- Assist the EVS manager by coordinating day-to-day tasks and projects, ensuring the standards of procedures in cleanliness, sanitation, and overall presentation of campus indoor and outdoor facilities.
- Meets with staff to coordinate department projects, train and coach team members, communicate changes in activities, policies, and/or procedures, and assist with proactive management of employee relations.
- Perform daily inspections. Ensures compliance with established policies and full utilization of personnel, materials, and facilities, with concern for quality and efficiency.
- Cultivate and maintain a positive working environment. Acts as a role model, providing excellent leadership to all staff and mentoring those who need additional training.
Environmental Services
- Perform daily tasks that include cleaning and sanitizing of all assigned cleanable surfaces, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing floor surfaces, and emptying waste for offices and facilities.
- Stock restrooms, supply closets, and work with the EVS Manager to maintain inventories.
- Pick up litter and debris throughout the zoo.
Collaboration
- In the absence of the EVS Manager, assign and direct the work of the EVS team and coordinate with the Director of Campus Management.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all zoo guest events outside of normal operations receive the required services from EVS to provide superior experiences.
- Assist the Grounds team with minor/major projects as directed.
- Participate in snow removal operations and is available to work a variable schedule, including early hours, weekends, and occasional holidays, in an on-call status for snow removal.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
- Other assistance, as designated by Campus Management leadership, to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DZCA retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.
- Assist EVS Manager with daily supervision of EVS Technicians.
- Acts as a good steward of DZCA resources.
- The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DZCA.
- This position will interact with managers at all levels and staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.
Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications
- Completion or in pursuit of a high school degree or equivalent required, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience in environmental services, supervisory experience, and experience with training staff or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, are preferred.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
- Skilled in the operation of small equipment such as scrubbers, vacuums, and blowers. Knowledgeable in the safe operation of such equipment.
- Ability to identify problems and provide adequate information, including alternative solutions regarding problematic situations, to the supervisor.
- Requires organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work and tasks.
- Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, and changing environment, and the ability to work as part of a team.

- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $24.00 -$25.00 (hourly).
