Cherry Hospital, a State Psychiatric Hospital serving the eastern region of North Carolina, is recruiting for a Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to the Hospital CEO, the Chief Operating Officer has the responsibility of assisting the CEO with the daily management of Cherry Hospital. The COO will assist in providing leadership and establishing goals/priorities for the hospital in accordance with standards and regulations. The COO will also work with department and hospital leadership to ensure the hospital operates in an efficient manner to provide the highest quality of patient care while still meeting budget requirements. This position will assume a lead role in strategic planning efforts and policy development. The COO will direct and supervise Environmental Services, Volunteer Services, Standards Management, Volunteer Services, and Police department. COO position is part of hospital administration and serves on the Executive Leadership Team. This position’s schedule may require additional hours when needed to provide on-call coverage and direction for the hospital.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies
- Considerable Knowledge of professional fiscal theory, techniques, practices and procedures and/or strong background in Standards Management
- Considerable Knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation and CMS regulations.
- Working knowledge of various disciplines involved in the service delivery system, and applicable Federal regulations, State statutes, and departmental policies.
- Ability to organize and direct the activities of professional and technical personnel representing a variety of disciplines.
Management Prefers:
Experience Working In a Hospital Or Other Healthcare Settings.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in professional level treatment program of people with psychiatric disorders of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory/administrative capacity over a large discipline component having broad impact in a residential program or over a sizable unit comparable to a program unit administrator;
or Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or related human service professional area from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of the above experience of which one must have been at a comparable supervisory level as defined above; or
