This temporary position is located in Swannanoa - Buncombe County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $22.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at 2090 US Hwy 70, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
The duties of this position will be to provide sampling support for WNC Recreational Water Quality Monitoring Program. Providing training and coordinating sampling programs for participating program partners. Collecting samples at required monitoring locations throughout multi-county region. Ensuring analytical results are provided to the public within 24 hours of sampling. May provide lab assistance as needed. Provides data analyses and program outreach information.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies

- Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate environmental monitoring programs.
- Ability to apply environmental sampling and monitoring protocols for sample collection, preservation, and interpretation.
- Ability to conduct field work independently and work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate technical information orally and in written form effectively; N.C. Driver's License at the time of employment.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

Associate's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
