The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Stormwater Inspector to assist the Engineering Division in inspecting stormwater facilities, including construction sites, industrial facilities, and municipal infrastructure to ensure that the facilities comply with the City's MS4 permit and consistent with TCEQ permit requirement. The Stormwater Inspector earns a competitive wage of $21.19-$22.94/per hour based on qualifications and experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A STORMWATER INSPECTOR
Job Summary
Responsible for performing field inspections about the City of Pearland's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) General Permits.
Key Responsibilities
- Regular and timely attendance at work.
- Conduct routine, pre-storm, storm event, and post-storm inspections as specified in the SWPPP
- Trouble-shoot site compliance and BMP issues.
- Verify site compliance with SWPPP, maps, and permit conditions.
- Maintain Construction Site inventory (BMPs, NOI etc)
- Help to identify and map priority areas for illicit discharge and trash dumping areas.
- Conduct dry weather screening.
- Conduct field analyses of samples, as needed.
- Collect stormwater and non-stormwater samples.
- Inspect and implement minimum control measures for Industrial Stormwater discharge.
- Inspect post-construction stormwater control measures and detention ponds.
- Maintain Inspection Reports and take action to correct the stormwater violations if needed.
- Inspect city-owned facilities such as fuel storage parking lots, pesticide storage facilities etc, and prepare reports and recommend necessary action.
- Assists in public outreach related to stormwater quality and performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Three (3) years of responsible experience in construction site inspection.
- Certifications (such as Certified Stormwater Inspector (CSI)) within one year of employment
- Valid, Class C Texas Driver's License
Desired Skills
- Experience with Municipal jobs related to engineering is preferred.
- One (1) year certification from college or technical school preferred.
- Must be able to follow oral and written directions, work well under pressure and stress, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize assignments.
- Must be able to communicate and maintain an effective and pleasant working relationship with other employees, contractors, and the general public.
- Knowledge of erosion control, stormwater inspection, and water quality sampling
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
