Job Description
Pay Range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour.
(Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 12:00am-4:59am)
- Responsible for operating, monitoring, controlling, testing and troubleshooting a Class III Activated Sludge, Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR), wastewater treatment facility in compliance with Foster Farms’ California Regional Water Quality Control Board.
- Waste Discharge Requirements and Monitoring and Reporting Program.
- This position must also maintain appropriate records to demonstrate compliance.
- Operate valves and gates; start and stop pumps, engines and electric motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes; operate and maintain boilers; perform routine maintenance work on valves, tanks and related equipment and facilities. Monitor sludge and effluent ponds as required.
- Input plant operation data in computer; plot operational trends.
- Operate SCADA computer system and related software.
- Perform routine plant ground maintenance work including painting and landscape work.
- Operate treatment plant vehicles and stationary machinery as required.
- Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.
- Perform advanced journey level assignments including the supervision of subordinate personnel and making independent judgments and decisions involving basic plant operations.
- Act as Lead Plant Operator when necessary.
Qualifications
- Must possess Grade I, II, or III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, issued by the State of CA.
- Must have three (3) years of experience as a Wastewater Plant Operator.
- Must be literate in Microsoft Applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Must be able to obtain PIT certification.
- Must have high school diploma or GED certificate; college degree is a plus.
- Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Must be able to operate hand and power tools, vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to tolerate extreme fluctuations in temperature while performing essentials functions.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Must be able to submit and pass criminal background check.
