- Assist with the overall administration of the onsite wastewater treatment program.
- Lead classroom training for onsite wastewater professionals.
- Evaluate onsite wastewater treatment system construction permit applications and variance requests.
- Conduct site visits/inspections of onsite wastewater treatment systems and issue construction permits.
- Provide training and technical guidance to industry, local public health agencies, and the public.
- Conduct field investigations of onsite wastewater treatment system complaints.
Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Public Health, or other applicable field of study (substitutions for experience will be considered).
- Three or more years of environmental health experience in onsite wastewater.
- Understanding of onsite wastewater treatment laws, rules, systems, system components, engineering, and environmental factors that affect wastewater treatment and dispersal.
- Advanced classroom educator skills and/or the ability and commitment to quickly develop them .
- Ability to travel in and out of state, including occasional overnight stays on short notice. Valid driver's license required.
- Moderate physical effort and mobility is required, i.e. driving vehicles, climbing stairs, negotiating outdoor terrain, walking/standing for hours at a time and frequent stooping/bending.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving skills; ability to communicate clearly, appropriately, and effectively; attention to detail.
