Under general supervision, leads staff and participates in the installation, operations, and maintenance of the City’s water, sewer, and storm drain systems; sets priorities and directs the work of assigned staff on a project or day-to-day basis; performs routine to complex maintenance and repair work of water distribution main and lateral pipeline systems, water production, treatment, and facility operations, hydrant and mainline valve exercising and repair, and/or meter services as well as sewers and storm drains; may be required to operate heavy equipment in a skillful and safe manner; provides technical and specialized assistance to the Utilities/Maintenance Supervisor; and performs related work as required.
Receives general supervision from the Utilities/Maintenance Supervisor. Exercises technical and functional direction over and provides training to lower level staff.
This is the advanced journey-level in the utilities/maintenance class series that performs the most complex duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned infrastructure, facilities, systems, and appurtenances.
This classification is distinguished from the Utilities/Maintenance Supervisor in that the latter is the full supervisory-level class in the series responsible for organizing, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of assigned staff involved in the Utilities and Maintenance divisions. This classification is further distinguished from Water Worker I/II due to its responsibility for leading, directing, and coordinating the work of those employees involved in the Utilities division.
Salary: $50K - $100K Annually
