Role Summary
Based in Belview in South Kilkenny the role reports to the designated Manager. The Operator will assist in the running of the waste water treatment plant including m onitoring and optimising the daily operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and support the site team to ensure compliance with the EPA Industrial Emission Licence (IEL). . The Operator will also help maintain the external areas of the plant.
Key Objectives
- Respond to critical alarms when required to ensure water and wastewater treatment output is maintained.
- Conduct and record process adjustments as required to ensure treated water and treated wastewater outputs are to the required standard
- Take ownership and responsibility for allocated water and wastewater treatment plant facilities ensuring standards of quality and cleanliness are upheldAssist with running the WWTP and monitoring the processes by completing daily checks and record keeping
- Daily WWTP lab analysis and ensure all testing is completed to schedule, calibration of testing is completed and review all daily results and report any issues to the Environmental Officer
- Prepare samples for external analysis when required
- Assist complaint investigations in relation to Wastewater Treatment
- Coordinate with external contractors to ensure a timely and efficient removal of sludge offsite
- Ensure WWTP housekeeping is to a high standard
- Trouble-shooting issues in the WWTP to find the best course of action to mitigate against any environmental impact
- Daily checks on the stormwater system to ensure compliance with the sites IEL licence
- External waste management, moving IBC’s, pallets, cardboard bales, etc. keeping the external areas of the plant in a clean and organised manner
- General maintenance of the external areas of the plant
- General housekeeping duties in external areas of the plant
- Any other tasks assigned by the manager
Person Profile
- Experience operating machinery such as Forklifts and Telehandlers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent team work skills as well ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to multitask and to consistently deliver high standard quality work in a busy environment
- Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise
- Good computer skills and command of Excel
- Detail oriented and well organized.
- Capable of working alongside other departments.
- Knowledge of Dairy or similar food processing industry.
- Knowledge of WWTP process activities an advantage
