The Water Environment Group at GBA is looking for an entry-level Civil Engineer to support their water/wastewater/stormwater projects in our Omaha, NE. GBA Services include field data collection, master planning, design, and construction management services. The position will offer opportunities to experience the design of sanitary sewer projects, sanitary sewer collection system studies, hydraulic modeling, and sewer rehabilitation techniques, pump station design, and wastewater treatment design. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with desire to jump in and experience it all.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the collection of data in the field including manhole inspections, smoke testing, and dyed water tests.
- Collect, review, and prepare flow meter and rainfall data for submittal to clients. Analyze flow data to determine inflow/infiltration rates in sewer collection systems.
- Review existing reports and studies for information related to studies and design projects.
- Prepare written studies and project design technical reports with supervision by senior staff.
- Prepare design drawings and calculations with supervision by senior staff.
- Create and update hydraulic computer models such as InfoWorks and XP-SWMM.
- Prepare construction contract documents including project specifications.
- Oversight of construction observation activities.
Required Education/Experience
- BS in Civil Engineering or closely related engineering degree.
- Previous Internship Experience a plus
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or be registered to take it.
- Possess effective communication skills both written and oral.
- Must be able to work effectively both on a team and individually.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel & GIS Mapping software is a plus.
