Basic Qualifications
Have two or more years of experience in hazardous waste handling and/or two years of wastewater pre-treatment experience.
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations pertaining to the management and disposal of hazardous wastes and wastewater pre-treatment.
Operate equipment and vehicles for purpose of transporting chemicals, hazardous waste materials.
Operate pumps and vacuum truck for transferring chemicals, rinse water / wastewater and filling containers.
Utilize materials handling equipment (drum dollies, forklifts etc.)
Must be able to work in personal protective equipment, up to and including Level B when required.
Must pass a yearly medical surveillance physical examination.

Job Description
As a Hazardous Waste and Wastewater Worker at the Palmdale, California facility, you will support the daily assigned tasks necessary to ensure the site is in compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations dealing with hazardous waste/wastewater activities. The job tasks are required to be performed on-site on a 9/80 schedule. This is not a telecommuting position. There is overtime work available on an as needed basis, with the occasional after hours Emergency Response required.
Perform the collection, cleanup, consolidation and transportation of hazardous waste, including industrial and non-hazardous wastes. Receive, identify, classify, consolidate, and segregate waste for accumulation and subsequent transportation for disposal.
Perform the containerizing, marking, labeling, manifesting, and transportation of wastes to the temporary accumulation areas, and complete necessary forms for inventory control.
Inspect and monitor waste accumulation areas for container integrity and facility condition for leakage, proper labeling and safety compliance documenting inspections using required forms.
Respond to spills, leaks or damaged containers, and carry out emergency response procedures plantwide.
Perform industrial wastewater pre-treatment to meet Federal, State and Local industrial wastewater discharge requirements.
Perform various batch treatments of rinsewater/wastewater by following established conventional pre-treatment procedures.
Perform batch type neutralization of acids, deoxidizers, spent etchant and other chemical industrial wastes in accordance with established procedures.
Operate filter presses and clarifiers for sludge removal and dewatering. Maintain and service clarifiers and filter press as required by manufacturer.
Maintain wastewater logs and records as required.
Travel off site to support hazardous material needs at numerous locations in Southern California. No overnight trips are anticipated.
Desired Skills
Strong verbal skills. Self-starter works in a team environment with support from other team members.
Experience working in a Union environment, and with Department of Defense customers.
