Salary: $31,330.00 - $50,490.00 Annually
Education and Experience: A High School diploma or GED or higher, and one (1) year of experience in wastewater line construction, maintenance and repair work.
Licenses and Certificates: Class I Collection Certificate of Competency issued by the State of Texas required within one (1) year of appointment. Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, supervise and participate in crew activities of skilled or unskilled workers engaged in light construction, maintenance and repair of sewer lines and services.
Typical Duties
Supervise and assist a small crew in the installation, maintenance and repair of sewer lines and services. Involves: Oversee and assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of manhole covers and sewer lines. Install concrete forms. Pour and finish concrete work. Install batter boards to lay pipes at specified grades and alignments. Install well-points and dewatering systems. Install timber shoring as required. Install polyethylene liner pipe. Estimate equipment and materials for work assignment. Consult with supervisor on work assignment problems or requests for additional support. Assist in laying pipes for the repair and replacement of existing systems. Repair, remove or replace damaged or obsolete lines. Supervise the tapping for new service connections and the plugging of lines. Check completed work to ensure compliance with materials and code specifications. Notify supervisor of work order completion. Maintain records and prepare daily activity reports.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: Schedule, assign and review of work activities. Prioritize and coordinate crew activities. Instruct, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide training and development. Enforce personnel rules, regulations and work standards. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Recommend merit pay or other employee status changes.
