Position Title: Plant Manager
Reports To: Vice President, Operations
Location: Rockaway, New Jersey
Direct Reports: Production, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics, and Administrative Leaders
Travel: Occasional travel to other North American manufacturing facilities
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and directing all aspects of operations at the Rockaway manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and employee engagement. The Plant Manager plays a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and alignment with Infra Pipes values, policies, and strategic objectives.
Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
Main Responsibility Areas
Plant Operations & Performance
- Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility
- Ensure timely, cost-effective production while maintaining high quality standards
- Establish and maintain production standards and schedules to meet company and customer requirements
- Remove production constraints and allocate human and equipment resources to achieve operational goals
- Analyze productivity and efficiency data to improve operational performance and cost effectiveness
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including:
- Workplace inspections
- Incident investigations
- Employee training and safety communications
- Correction of substandard acts or conditions
- Recognition of safety performance
- Adherence to all legislated safety requirements
- Lead and support the Plant Safety Committee and all site-wide safety initiatives
Quality Management
- Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency and monitor scrap rates
- Identify trends and implement corrective actions to improve quality and reduce waste
- Participate in and lead investigations where product quality is in question
- Develop and implement procedures to improve quality standards and ensure adherence to all processes
Continuous Improvement
- Promote and support a continuous improvement culture across all departments
- Actively support Lean Manufacturing, 6-S, Six Sigma, and other CI initiatives
- Encourage participation from all employees in improvement activities
Financial & Planning Responsibilities
- Participate in long-term planning and departmental scheduling
- Establish and manage departmental budgets based on sales forecasts
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by reviewing P&L and budget performance regularly
- Prepare and present production, financial, and operational reports
People Leadership
- Train, develop, and build a high-performing, engaged workforce across all levels of the plant
- Provide strong leadership, coaching, and performance management
- Foster a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
- Drive alignment with company core values, including valuing people, ethics, safety, and environmental leadership
Customer & Inventory Management
- Coordinate sales order acceptance and plant commitments
- Ensure accurate inventory levels and production planning
- Build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships
Other
- Conduct all work in accordance with established procedures, policies, and standards
- Travel as required to support other Infra Pipes manufacturing facilities
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Management, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 8 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish
- Plastic manufacturing experience is considered an asset
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
- Strong understanding of budgeting, expense management, and basic financial and accounting principles
- Proven leadership, team-building, and advanced coaching skills
- Demonstrated experience implementing continuous improvement and Lean tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
- Self-motivated, decisive, and able to perform effectively under pressure
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and spreadsheet analysis
