The Village of Paulding is seeking a professional, dedicated, and hard-working individual to fill the Plant Maintenance/ Operator positions within the Water/Wastewater Department. The positions will work under the supervision of the Water/Wastewater Plant Superintendent and will be responsible for the operations, and maintenance of the Village Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant. Wages are dependent on qualifications.
General Duties: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Operates and monitors water treatment plant in accordance with established operating procedures; monitors SCADA computer; inspects facilities on a scheduled basis to ensure proper plant operation (e.g., reads charts, gauges, maintains logs, etc.); gathers weather data. Regulates chemical feeds, starts and stops filter and feeder pumps, motors, and other equipment; adjust valves and regulates equipment to maintain efficiency. Performs minor preventative maintenance on equipment; cleans and adjusts machinery and equipment (e.g., lubricates parts, cleans feeders, etc.). Draws water samples from various locations for routine laboratory analysis; adjust chemical feed based on analysis to ensure water quality compliance. Prepares and maintains records related to plant operation and activities (e.g., addition of chemicals, gallons processed, test results, etc.). Unloads and stores chemicals. Makes operational checks on equipment at wastewater lagoons, pump houses, and lift station; checks, adjusts, repairs, or replaces float controls, starter switches, pumps, and motors. Takes samples of sewage flow and assists in the analysis of suspended settleable and total solids. Does corrective and preventative maintenance throughout the plant and lift stations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Maintains personal and professional competence and awareness; maintains required certifications and licenses. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must have a High School diploma or GED. A valid Ohio Driver’s license with a safe driving record.
- Minimum of a Class 1 OEPA Water Supply Operator’s license, or willing to obtain one.
- Upon successful completion of probation, the Village will cover all costs associated with obtaining and maintaining water and wastewater certifications.
- Some knowledge of the functions and servicing of mechanical equipment and machinery is helpful.
Working Conditions
- Standard operational environment with occasional public interaction
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Regular schedule is Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, with rotating weekend shifts.
- Respond to operational issues and emergencies as needed.
