Pay Rate: Range 40, Step 1, $22.80 / hour (plus $10.00 / day “on-call / standby pay” for the days assigned as “on-call / “stand-by”). )
The Apple Valley Heights County Water District, or AVHCWD, is a special district in the State of California. AVHCWD currently serves approximately 316 residential service connections and does not have any industrial or commercial service connections. We pride ourselves on delivering rapid, reliable, potable water to our community; to ensure we are always prepared to meet unexpected demands, we are seeking individuals to add to our current staff and to build a dedicated roster of on-call professionals.
The Role:
We are seeking flexible, proactive candidates to join our organization. As an “on-call / per-diem” team member, you will not work standard, full-time hours. Instead, you will be contacted on an as-needed basis; this position will perform a variety of tasks related to water system maintenance such as: general infrastructure maintenance, site weed abatement and upkeep, maintenance of District equipment, valve exercising, hydrant flushing, meter reading, meter replacement, inventory control, customer communications, administrative support and reports, emergency response and after hours / weekend coverage. All candidates must possess a minimum of a valid D-1 certification, issued by the State of CA, and have experience in the Water Distribution industry; selected candidates will need to provide a recent CA DMV printout and complete a medical screening, paid for by the District.
