Job Overview
The Town of Federalsburg is seeking an experienced Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator- 5A. Under the direction of the Water & Wastewater Superintendent, the Water & Wastewater Plant Operator assists in the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment plants, and pumping stations in accordance with local, state and federal environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment
- Conduct routine inspections, tests and adjustments to maintain water and effluent quality and system efficiency
- Perform maintenance and repairs on treatment equipment, pumps, distribution systems and collection systems
- Monitor and record operational data, water quality and effluent quality parameters, and system performance
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and service interruptions to ensure the proper treatment of the water and wastewater
- Perform sampling and testing of water and wastewater to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare and submit accurate reports to regulatory agencies as required
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Weekends, holidays, and shifts under emergency conditions as needed
Required licenses:
- Valid Maryland driver’s license
- Valid State of Maryland Class B commercial driver’s license
- State of Maryland Class One Water Treatment Operator’s Certification (or must be achieved within 1 year of hire)
- State of Maryland Class Four wastewater Treatment Operator’s Certification (or must be achieved within 1 year of hire)
This is a full time 40-hour position with the Town of Federalsburg offering a generous benefit package that includes Maryland State Retirement. The compensation range for this hourly position is $20-$25 per hour.
