JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities
The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Wastewater Plant Operations Technician I (Laughlin) position. This position will be primarily responsible for:
- Becoming familiar with Plant SCADA and alarm system.
- Conducting laboratory tests and maintaining records of plant operations.
- Inspecting treatment plant equipment and creating service requests.
- Performing general plant housekeeping such as sweeping, cleaning, emptying trash, and plant clean up.
- Understanding NPDES permit and its importance to the environment.
- Learning from repetitive tasks to identify abnormalities related to the functioning of equipment and processes.
- Complete daily log entries, round sheets, bench sheets and chain of custody accurately.
This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies at the Laughlin, Nevada (Laughlin Water Resource Center) worksite location.

The Wastewater Plant Operations Technician I is a flex position. Upon successful completion of the training program and meeting the minimum qualifications of the higher-level class, to include obtaining any required certifications and/or licenses, the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Wastewater Plant Operations Technician II.
Education And Experience
- Equivalent to High School Diploma or completion of trade school certificate.
- Wastewater Plant Operations Technician I: One (1) year of experience, training, or education in the operation and maintenance of water, wastewater or similar industrial or commercial equipment.
- Wastewater Plant Operations Technician II: Two (2) years of full-time experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility.
- Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of application.
- Wastewater Plant Operations Technician I: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) Wastewater Operator Grade I Certificate within one (1) year from date of hire.
- Wastewater Plant Operations Technician II: NWEA Wastewater Operator Grade II Certificate, or a valid Wastewater Operator Grade II Certificate, or equivalent, within another state at time of application.
- If a non-NWEA certification is held, the candidate must obtain, either through reciprocity or test, a NWEA Wastewater Operator (I or II as appropriate) Certificate within one (1) year of hire.
Background Investigation:
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Additional background investigations may be conducted periodically after employment.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
- Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Medical Examination:
- Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
