SCA Environmental, Inc. is seeking a motivated entry-level Environmental Specialist / Industrial Hygiene Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for those interested in environmental consulting, occupational health and safety, construction monitoring, and hazardous materials assessment.
No prior industry experience is required — SCA provides comprehensive on-the-job training. We are looking for dependable individuals with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with field inspections and monitoring related to asbestos, lead, and other environmental hazards
- Perform environmental sampling of air, soil, and water under supervision
- Support indoor air quality investigations and construction monitoring projects
- Collect field data, photographs, and documentation
- Assist with hazardous materials surveys in buildings
- Coordinate with project managers, laboratories, and contractors
- Help prepare reports and organize project files
Work Environment
- Approximately 75% field work / 25% office work
- Work at construction sites, schools, commercial buildings, and outdoor locations
- Hands-on, active work — not a desk-only position
- Occasional evening or weekend work (up to ~20%) may be required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (all majors welcome; environmental science, engineering, public health, geology, chemistry, or related fields helpful)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn new technical skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to enter crawl spaces and attics
- Ability to work safely near construction activities and heavy equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work may occur in environments with noise, dust, fumes, or hazardous materials
Additional Requirements
- Participation in SCA’s Medical Surveillance Program, including medical clearance for respirator use
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and automobile insurance (required for field work)
- Ability to travel locally to job sites
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
