Under general supervision, the Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator II operates and maintains a surface water treatment facility, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for drinking water quality. Responsibilities include monitoring treatment processes (e.g., coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection), performing routine lab tests, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues in the distribution system, and responding to emergencies. This role supports a team in delivering safe water to over 500 connections, with opportunities for on-call rotation and career advancement to senior operator positions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor surface water treatment equipment to meet TCEQ standards.
- Conduct water quality sampling and analysis for turbidity, chlorine residuals, and contaminants.
- Perform maintenance on pumps, valves, and SCADA systems in the treatment plant and distribution network.
- Document operations, generate reports, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Assist in distribution system repairs, such as leak detection and pressure management.
