Job Title: ZLD Wastewater treatment system operator
Location: Thomaston
Salary range: $25 to $50 hour depending on experience
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK:
2ND SHIFT 2:30 PM - 11:00PM
INCLUDING SOME WEEKENDS
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to support the company’s needs by providing operational support to the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) wastewater treatment system. The ZLD Operator will be responsible to Inspect, maintain and control process equipment and perform mechanical minor maintenance throughout the treatment plant.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Regular attendance in accordance with Attendance Policy
· Attend and complete all mandatory trainings by necessary completion date

· Monitor and control plant operations in accordance with company policies and plant standard operating procedures
· Maintain records of plant operations including, but not limited to, hourly operating data and abnormal operating conditions.
· Performs spot and field tests to determine if treatment equipment is operating properly.
· Ensure that the facility operates within permit compliance, at/above design capability, and always produces high quality product.
· Interpret operational data and make operational changes as needed.
· Operational experience of site-specific equipment preferred, including: EQ Tank, pH adjust, Lamella, Hex Chromium treatment, Sludge Press
· Perform any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility to include sweeping, shoveling, and other housekeeping activities
· Technology savvy; knowledgeable about modern technology, and use of SCADA type of software
· Understand water balance in an array of location and different flow rates.
· Operational experience of site-specific equipment preferred, including: EQ Tank, pH adjust, Lamella, MMF, DI exchange, Hex Chromium treatment, Sludge Press
· Collects composite and grab samples of wastewater treatment processes and discharge effluent.
· Trouble shoot mass flow issues, system, probes, pumps, etc.
· Able to use water chemistry measurement equipment, perform calibrations and basic testing of them.
· Starts and stops pumps, motors, and air compressors to control flow of wastewater through pH adjustments, settling, and sludge dewatering processes.
· Be able to do detailed logs and document all applicable activities for government review.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Perform all other duties as assigned
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required, Associate college degree in related field preferred
- Awareness and fundamentals related to Self-Contained Automated Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in SCADA type software, process operator in wastewater, steam, or other process operation or equivalent.
· Strong mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated Skills/Knowledge/Ability in:
· Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and deviation in the plant operation and display proper judgment in responding to them.
· Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, and drawings in English
· Understanding of occupational hazards connected with chemistry and plant practices with emphasis on safety and compliant work.
· Keeps daily inventory of treatment chemicals and monthly inventory to ensure continuous plant operation.
· Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, able to respond to on-call and “emergency call-ins”.
· Communication skills both verbal and written
· Ability to operate a computer and assortment of touch screens
· Ability to perform basic math

· The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and out.
· The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
· The work environment has a variety of physical conditions stairs, ladders, working on uneven surfaces, being in proximity to chemical baths, electrical current, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat.
· The workers will periodically be in tanks, pits, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.
