KOMAN Government Solutions, LLC (KGS), a wholly owned small-business subsidiary of the Natives of Kodiak (NOK), is seeking a
Treatment Plant Operator to support the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of an on-site groundwater treatment plant and vapor intrusion mitigation system in Hanover, NH. This position is responsible for daily O&M activities, troubleshooting, system repairs, safety compliance, and general plant upkeep. The Operator will also support quality control, reporting, subcontractor oversight, and coordination with onsite stakeholders.
KGS provides high-quality remediation, engineering, waste management, munitions, and construction services to federal and commercial clients including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NAVFAC, USDA, FAA, National Guard Bureau, and various state and municipal agencies. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, the ability to work independently, and experience operating environmental treatment systems.
U.S. citizenship, a clean MVR, and a minimum Grade 2 wastewater operator license (or reciprocity eligibility) are required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems and vapor intrusion mitigation systems in compliance with discharge permits and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor system performance, calibrate instruments, and record operational data.
- Collect and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
- Perform routine maintenance including filter changes, carbon backwashing, media replacement, pump and motor servicing, and general system upkeep.
- Respond to system call-outs to maintain continuous operation.
- Troubleshoot system issues and assist with repairs, upgrades, and modifications.
- Prepare daily operational reports and communicate findings to the Project Manager.
- Ensure all safety and quality control protocols are followed.
- Oversee onsite activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage tools, materials, equipment, and inventory.
- Assist with RFIs, change orders, and cost estimates for maintenance activities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with onsite clients and stakeholders.
- Oversee subcontractors performing media changeouts, waste disposal, and related tasks.
Preferred System Experience
- Remote recovery wells.
- Air stripping units.
- Vapor-phase and liquid-phase GAC systems (VGAC/LGAC).
- Bag filtration systems.
- Advanced oxidation process (AOP) systems and chemical additives.
- Infiltration basins, wells, and galleries for treated effluent.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 3+ years of related experience.
- NH Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License, Grade 2 minimum, or ability to obtain NH reciprocity if licensed in another state.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean MVR required.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Required: OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER + 8-hr refresher or ability to obtain before commencing employment
- Desired: OSHA 30 Construction Safety, USACE CQCM, forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to read and interpret project documents and respond to inquiries effectively.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, driving, climbing, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
- Exposure to wet/humid conditions, mechanical equipment, fumes, chemicals, and outdoor weather.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to perform confined space entry and wear a respirator.
- Work near moving mechanical parts, at heights, and around loud machinery.
- Fieldwork includes treatment plant operations and travel between multiple sites.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $35 per hour.
