Job Context
Focus is on producing products (DG pulp, VSF, Salt, CS2/Acid) at optimum cost and quality suitable for customer requirements. In the present scenario of global competitiveness, to survive and sustain, it is very essential to continually improve product quality at par with global benchmark at optimum cost. Rising cost of raw material, chemicals & energy, fluctuating raw material quality, water scarcity, ever increasing customer demands for continuous improvement in product quality and stringent environment norms on effluent quality and water consumption has put greater responsibility. Hence continuous evaluation of product quality & process capability and improvements through innovative solutions is essential. At the same time there is a need to continuously evaluate & implement emerging technologies to maintain cost effectiveness & quality competitiveness and help sustain the business.

KRA1 Quality Control -Inspection & Testing 1.Plan for inspection & test activities, sampling, manpower, test facilities, test procedures & other resources and ensure inspection & test activities are carried out as per plan.
- Plan & Monitor the calibration of test instruments & equipments by reputed institutes / at in-house facilities.
- Co-ordinate & implement for unification of test procedures across the group units.
- Plan & propose for upgradation of technology as per need.
- Ensure conformance of product quality to specifications.
- Co-ordinate for optimization of process conditions based on plant/lab scale trials.
- Suggest corrective / preventive measures & co-ordinate for implementation on plant scale.
KRA2 Process & Quality improvement 1.Lead process improvement studies.
- Ensure that lab/pilot/plant scale trials are conducted and co-ordinate for implementation of feasible process changes.
- Setting benchmark of process & product quality targets for improvement.
- Study day to day quality issues and formulate schemes in consultation with Process departments, to achieve desired quality.
- Co-ordinate for plant scale quality improvement trials. Prepare & submit trial reports.
- Study literature / journals, visit other mills, discuss with research institutes & capture improvement opportunities.
KRA3 Trouble shooting 1.Ensure proper identification of root cause of quality problems
- Monitor implementation of corrective actions and formulate schemes for plant scale implementation.
- Ensure effectiveness of corrective actions taken
KRA4 Statutory Compliance & Reporting 1.Ensure timely submission of reports to concerned stakeholders (external / internal)
- Ensure accuracy of the reports submitted.
- Ensure generation of test reports in shifts & General shift as per schedule.
KRA5 Cost 1.Prepare department budget & monitor the expenses against budget
- Control cost of consumables within the budget limits / annual targets by controlling variables such as chemicals, spares, OT, C-off etc.
KRA6 People Development 1.Identification of training needs for the team members and ensure the training needs are imparted.
- Train department members on technological changes
KRA7 7. Safety - Ensure safe work practices and culture during execution of jobs.
- Take active participation in training and awareness programme.

- Rectify unsafe area / practices
- Ensure proper use of safety appliances.
- Maintain targets of zero accidents.
- Search for new devices for safe working and handling of hazards chemicals.
