About the Role
The Sales Manager – Chemicals will be responsible for driving sales performance, expanding business opportunities, and supporting the growth of METICHEM’s product and service portfolio. This role involves identifying and analysing customer needs, developing and executing strategic sales plans, and acting as the primary commercial point of contact within the assigned region..
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a 3-year sales plan and cost budget in alignment with Executive leadership
- Drive annual sales and gross margin targets, new business development, and key account management
- Lead pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and margin optimisation
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across industrial, speciality, and commodity chemical markets
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, production, and supply chain teams to ensure customer satisfaction
- Manage routes to market and geographic priorities effectively
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer behaviour — reporting insights to senior management
- Initiate and manage mid-to-long-term development projects with customers
- Take ownership of collections and bad debt management across all assigned accounts
- Produce monthly forecasts and sales reports for review with the General Manager
- Promote and maintain QHSSE standards and culture in line with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in chemical sales or a related field, with strong market knowledge
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proficiency in ERP systems and CRM tools
- Strong knowledge of cultural differences and regional market regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability in planning, decision-making, and commercial reporting
- Resilient, detail-oriented, and results-driven
