The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Energy and Environment, the Student, Energy & Environment will support the collection, analysis, and reporting of Energy & Environment data to inform decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and identify opportunities for automation. This role will work closely with staff to enhance data quality, streamline processes, and contribute to performance analysis across key initiatives.
Skills
This is an ideal opportunity for a student with strong Excel skills, an analytical mindset, and an interest in process improvement and automation within a municipal environment. As the Student, Energy & Environment, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Various data analysis and spreadsheet enhancements
- Collect, clean, and analyze datasets (e.g., energy, water, or asset data, etc.)
- Identify trends, anomalies, and insights to support decision-making (e.g. identifying common key performance indicators across Energy & Environment strategic plans; workplan documents, etc.)
- Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and visualizations of data
- Provide analytical support to projects and initiatives as required
- Collaborate with team members across departments
- Assist with other Energy & Environment Division programs and projects, such as community events, engagement activities, and other projects.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic student enrolled in a bachelor or masters level program (or graduated within the past year) in the fields of environmental studies, computer science, business administration or a similar program. We are seeking an individual with a demonstrated ability to work independently, think creatively and pay attention to detail.
The successful candidate for Student, Energy & Environment will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers an hourly rate of $21.18 – $26.48 per hour.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
