The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of an industrial wastewater treatment facility, with a strong emphasis on chemical treatment processes, equipment oversight, team coordination, and high‑level customer service. This role requires technical expertise in Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems, flocculation chemistry, and various wastewater treatment technologies. The Operations Supervisor also serves as an on‑call resource for urgent customer and internal operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day operation of industrial wastewater treatment processes, including DAF systems, batch treatment systems, filtration systems, and 3‑phase decanter centrifuges.
- Apply appropriate chemical treatment strategies to achieve effective flocculation and coagulation for various industrial waste streams.
- Monitor chemical dosing, process performance, and system optimization for polymers, alum, ferric chloride, polyaluminum chloride, and other common coagulants/flocculants.
- Supervise operators, assign daily tasks, ensure compliance with SOPs, and assist in hands‑on troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, treatment records, and regulatory documentation.
- Respond to after‑hours operational calls, supporting customers and team members during emergencies or urgent situations.
- Ensure safe operations and adherence to environmental, safety, and company policies.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding equipment repairs, calibration, and preventive maintenance needs.
- Provide customer service support and technical communication related to system performance, service schedules, and issue resolution.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience working in industrial wastewater treatment operations.
- Strong understanding of flocculation and coagulation chemistry, especially with synthetic polymers, alum, ferric chloride, and polyaluminum chloride.
- Hands‑on experience with DAF units and general mechanical aptitude in wastewater process equipment.
- Ability to analyze system performance and troubleshoot chemical, mechanical, and process‑related issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to support emergency or high‑priority customer needs.
- Ability to work in an environment that may require on‑call phone support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating:
- Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems
- 3‑phase decanter centrifuges
- Ringwood‑designed batch wastewater treatment systems
- Certification or formal training on compact construction equipment, including:
- Loaders
- Excavators
- Tow motors / forklifts
- Previous supervisory or lead‑operator experience.
Work Environment
- Industrial wastewater treatment facility setting.
- Requires occasional off‑hours phone support and emergency response assistance.
- Hands‑on work around tanks, pumps, polymers, chemicals, filtration systems, and mechanical equipment.
