Field Service Technician – Wastewater Treatment Systems
We are presently seeking a Field Service Technician. This position requires a high level of proficiency in mechanical systems, with the ability to support sophisticated wastewater treatment systems, for a wide variety of challenging applications. Field Service Technicians will troubleshoot operational issues, and provide start-up, commissioning, and training for various wastewater treatment processes. Technologies include lagoon-based treatment systems, SAGR, MBBR, IFAS, aeration systems, blowers, sand filters, disk filters, chemical dosing systems, mixers, sensors, and analytical instrumentation. Technicians in this role are required to travel within the USA & Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct start-up & commissioning services for installed wastewater treatment equipment
- Conduct maintenance/inspection visits to projects sites in the USA.
- Perform diagnostics and analysis to trouble-shoot and repair wastewater treatment equipment.
- Complete paperwork related to tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicate in a positive manner with customers and co-workers and maintain excellent customer rapport.
- Providing customer quotes for labor, parts, etc.
- Responsible for following company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Exposure to troubleshooting motor drives and programmable logic controllers considered an asset
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot wastewater treatment issues in the field.
- Knowledge of plumbing valves, pumps, and instruments (pressure, flow, pH, conductivity, temperature, nitrate/nitrite, ammonia, dissolved oxygen, BOD, TSS, turbidity, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, PFDs, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, electrical/mechanical drawings and layouts, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Ability to upload and download PLC and HMI programs and troubleshoot ladder logic PLC programs. (i.e. Allen Bradley, RS Linx, RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, FactoryTalk View, etc.)
- Ability to speak effectively in front of customers or employees.
- Self-driven and highly motivated, act with diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn, be dependable, and be consistent with efforts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Must possess a flexible and adaptive approach to work schedule and time management.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical school diploma.
- 3+ years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Physical stamina and ability to climb on or into elevated tanks, work in confined spaces, treatment tanks, and work near high voltage electrical equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License and Passport and willing to travel throughout the USA and Canada as required.
- Availability and ability to perform standby duties, respond to emergencies, and work outside normal scheduled hours, as required. Although rarely, working weekends can occur.
- Available for short-notice travel, willing and open to early and late flight times to and from your home airport.
- Travel approximately 75% plus weekend work may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Wastewater Operator Certificate (Class 2 or 3) would be considered an asset
- Knowledge or installation experience of wastewater treatment technologies considered an asset
