THE MAURY SERVICE AUTHORITY
Is looking to fill a full-time position of WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing technical work operating a water treatment facility, taking samples, performing routine tests, ensuring proper facility operation, ensuring compliance with operating permit requirements, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. This position has standard full-time hours but may also be responsible to be at the facility during extreme weather conditions. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the WTP Operations Manager or his/her designee.
Responsibilities include: Adherence to State and Federal laws in these areas. Maintains knowledge of industry trends, performs research, and communicates data as needed or assigned. Maintains successful operations of the facilities. Collects, compiles, and analyzes data concerning current treatment and operational needs and supports development of tactical and strategic information for use in decision making. Maintains confidentiality where needed. May be required to work outside normal work hours in on-call and emergency situations.
Experience/Education: High school diploma and a valid driver’s license. Must pass a DMV check, background check, drug screening, and be able to lift 50 lbs.
Knowledge: MSA employees shall have a ‘team player’ mentality, good work ethic, excellent customer service skills, and must be prepared to conduct each interaction with others in a customer satisfaction-oriented environment. Must have knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of a water treatment facilities; some knowledge of hydraulic, chemical, and mechanical principles pertinent to water treatment facilities operations; some knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work and of the necessary safety precautions; skill in the use and care of hand tools; ability to detect flaws in the operation of mechanical equipment and to determine proper remedial measures; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain records of shift operations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, businesses, and the general public.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience ($17.00/hr – $27.00/hr). MSA generous benefit package includes holiday pay, VRS retirement plan, paid time off. Position is opened until filled.
