Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Wastewater Operator to join our team in ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves managing water treatment processes, maintaining equipment, and ensuring environmental standards are met. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, data collection skills, and experience with heavy equipment operation. Duties
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
- Manage heavy equipment operation such as tanker trucks and other construction or water treatment machinery.
- Collect, analyze, and record data related to water quality, flow rates, and system performance for regulatory compliance.
- Conduct inspections of plumbing, pumps, valves, and other mechanical components; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Assist with construction or installation projects related to water treatment infrastructure.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently during maintenance or equipment replacement activities.
- Maintain accurate logs of operations, repairs, and inspections in compliance with environmental standards.
- Support safety protocols by identifying potential hazards and ensuring proper safety procedures are followed during all operations.
Experience
- Prior experience in water or wastewater treatment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS).
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, plumbing, and general maintenance of treatment facilities.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as tanker trucks or construction machinery is a plus.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills to monitor system performance effectively.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to flow rates, chemical dosages, and other operational parameters.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments.
Knowledge of water treatment processes, environmental regulations, and safety standards is preferred. - Proven experience operating wastewater treatment systems or similar heavy industrial equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to repair pumps, valves, plumbing fixtures, and other mechanical components.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) used in water treatment processes.
- Excellent analysis skills for interpreting water quality data and troubleshooting operational issues effectively.
- Physical capability of heavy lifting, prolonged standing, walking, and perfoming manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Valid drivers license with experience in operating heavy equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of water treatment principles and wastewater regulations is highly desirable.
