JOB DUTIES
The environmental scientist/industrial hygienist should be proficient in technical report writing and will conduct various field activities to include asbestos and lead paint assessments, soil sampling and environmental assessments. Professional development is rapid and more complex projects will be assigned as skills are developed via an in-house training program and outsourced training to comply with State of Hawaii Department of Health certification requirements. The environmental scientist/industrial hygienist will also be responsible for coordination with analytical laboratories, subcontractor oversight, and health and safety air monitoring. Report writing and small project management responsibilities will follow after gaining successful experience.
You will work both independently and collaboratively with a senior scientist or project manager. The candidate will be expected to follow company safety standards, participate in safety training, and implement site-specific health and safety plans. The candidate will be responsible for reviewing, understanding, and implementing site-specific work plans and scopes of work.
Job Requirements:
- A formal education in environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry, geology, or a related science. An associate's degree or certificate, previous related experience will also be considered. Bachelor's degree is a plus +
- A valid driver's license, clean driving record and dependable, fully insured transportation
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Computer efficiency must include: Word and Excel

- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of clients
- A strong health and safety ethic
- Self-motivated and able to take directions
- Must be reliable and on-time to job site.
- Must be able to climb on ladders and work at elevations greater than 6 feet above ground
The following are desired but not required:
- Current Hawaii Department of Health certifications for Lead-Based Paint Inspector, Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Monitor
- HAZWOPER or relavent certifications
- Experience conducting phase I environmental site assessments
- Experience conducting soil surveys per Hawaii DOH TGM
Successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, communication skills, interest in environmental issues and a career path in related fields. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
