Water / Wastewater Operator
Location: Lansing, MI
Job Type: Full-Time
Operations Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Water / Wastewater Operator to join our team in Lansing, Michigan. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance, system reliability, and public health protection.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on treatment experience, strong mechanical skills, and current EGLE water and/or wastewater certifications. Higher-level licensed operators are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor PLC and SCADA systems to control water and wastewater treatment processes
- Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on plant equipment
- Collect, analyze, and record water quality, flow, and system performance data
- Operate pumps, blowers, mixers, lift stations, and other treatment equipment
- Perform plumbing troubleshooting and minor system repairs
- Assist with tanker operations and water/wastewater transfers
- Maintain accurate logs, inspections, and maintenance records
- Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment preferred
- Current EGLE water, wastewater, or industrial wastewater certification required
- Higher-level certified operators encouraged to apply
- Mechanical aptitude and plant maintenance experience
- PLC/DCS experience a plus
- Basic math and data analysis skills
- Ability to lift and work in physically demanding environments
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Compensation
Pay is competitive and based on certification level and experience. Higher certifications will receive premium compensation.
