Project Scientist – Wastewater/Biosolids
Material Matters is seeking a Project Scientist to join our Team in our Harrisburg, PA office. As a Project Scientist with MM, you will support with a variety of technical projects primarily related to biosolids and residuals market assessments, and secondary support for other business lines. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, with strong problem-solving capabilities, and technical writing and data management skills. Communication is a critical component of this role. Experience in reviewing and understanding regulations is a bonus.

Remote Status: Hybrid/Remote
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall project management for projects – with a focus on biosolids products and process optimization.
- Lead and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality, including monitoring utilization and financial performance
- Reviews and interprets regulation and legislative actions across the United States for research projects and permit application packages.
- Gathers market data through research and interviews from a wide variety of markets including agriculture, soil blenders, fertilizer blenders, landscapers, horticulture/nurseries, and similar industries.
- Supports development of creative, client-focused solutions, based on project-specific data gathered.
- Compiles and interprets data gathered in concise and professional Technical Memorandums and PowerPoint presentations.
- Supports business development, including identifying business opportunities and proposal development, and strategic participation in regional and national professional organizations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science Environmental Science, Environmental Resource Management, Agricultural Engineering or Environmental Engineering
- Intermediate to Advanced Experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matters.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in customer relations, sales, and/or marketing is a plus, but not required.
