Position Summary
The Water Treatment Plant Team Lead is a key personnel position with responsible charge of the water treatment plant. This role is essential for operating, maintaining, and supervising all personnel and equipment involved in producing and treating. The Team Leader is accountable for execution of water purification services, ensuring compliance with State operating permits, quality standards, and efficient system operation while maintaining cost control
Essential Duties
- Monitors water flushing, water sampling, and water testing.
- Supervising the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment.
- Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings, and tests results to determine load requirements.
- Proficiency with MS Office software.
- Manage used cooking oil (UCO) and dirt reclamation process.
- Have responsible charge of both the water treatment plant and the water distribution system.
- Supervise all other employees employed to operate the plant and distribution system.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment, continuously operating the Raw Water Supply, WTP, and Distribution Systems 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- Monitor system controls, interpret meter/gauge readings, and observe operating variations to determine load requirements.
- Monitor water flushing, water sampling, and water testing. Take corrective action to meet all regulatory requirements immediately if water chemistry is non-compliant.
- Assist in leading the creation of the organization structure and processes required to fully execute the requirements of services
- Maintain a log of operations and records for in-process tracking of plant output characteristics.
- Prepare reports on plant operations, compliance, and incidents, including the Monthly Operating Records (MOR) Report.

Physical Demands
- This position is regularly required to have the ability to use hands to feel objects and use tools and controls. The position also needs to be able to raise and lower objects without mechanical aids and to extend hands and arms in any direction to reach, push or pull objects; to bend at the knees and at the waist; and to talk and hear.
- Position requires frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
- The employee must have the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., frequently lift and/or move 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds with another individual.
- Position must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs. Must be able to safely mount and dismount equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
Qualifications & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably within a skilled trades or field-based environment.
- Strong working knowledge of systems, applicable codes, and safety regulations.
- Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers, team members, and leadership.
- Must possess or have received through reciprocity a current/valid operator’s certificate equivalent to Class B
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water wells, disinfection system, and equipment for water supply, treatment, and distribution systems.
- Minimum of a Class B water treatment plant operator (Level 3) certification or greater.
- Knowledge of water treatment principles, processes, and regulatory standards (EPA, DEP, or local equivalents)
- Must have a valid social security card, driver’s license, and birth certificate
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Intermediate PC skills and ability to navigate programs used by the Company for training and/or communication purposes.
