Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Water Operator to join our team, responsible for maintaining and operating water treatment systems. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, water treatment processes, and heavy equipment operation. The ideal candidate will possess technical skills in equipment repair, data collection, and system analysis to ensure safe and efficient water management. Duties
- Operate and monitor programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to manage water treatment processes.
- Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on water treatment equipment.
- Repair and troubleshoot mechanical issues with pumps, valves, and other system components.
- Manage heavy equipment operation including tankers and construction machinery as needed for system maintenance or upgrades.
- Collect, analyze, and record data related to water quality, system performance, and operational parameters.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks involving equipment parts or materials to support plant operations.
- Assist with construction projects or system upgrades as required.
- Conduct analysis of water samples to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Perform basic math calculations for system adjustments and data interpretation.
- Assist to prepare budget and maintain budget throughout the year.
- Read meters monthly throughout the Village and Town.
- Lawn Mowing of the Athletic Fields and other Village owned properties.
- Properly code all expenses to correct budget accounts.
Qualifications
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Class C Water License within the first 8 months of employment.
- Proven experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) a plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, plumbing, and maintenance of water treatment systems.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, mowers or construction machinery is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a manufacturing or treatment plant environment.
- Ability to walk long distances for the purpose of metering reading.
- Basic math skills necessary for system calculations and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with attention to detail in maintenance tasks.
- Prior experience in water treatment or related fields is a plus. This position requires a proactive individual committed to operational excellence, safety standards, and environmental responsibility.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 46 per week
