Job Description
The Water Systems Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and supporting the remote operation of water treatment, salt water disposal, and distribution systems using SCADA and related control platforms. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient system performance through continuous monitoring, alarm response, coordination with field personnel, and accurate data reporting. The position requires strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor water treatment facilities, salt water disposal systems, and distribution networks using SCADA systems.
- Track system parameters such as flow rates, pressures, and reservoir levels to ensure optimal operation.
- Remotely operate pumps, valves, and inlets to maintain system performance and stability.
- Respond to system alarms and initiate corrective actions in accordance with operating procedures.
- Communicate with field operators to coordinate maintenance activities, repairs, and emergency response.
- Dispatch instrumentation and electrical technicians, electrical crews, and field personnel for on-site troubleshooting when remote resolution is not possible.
- Record operational data, incidents, and maintenance activities in system logs and reports.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational and performance reports.
- Ensure operations comply with applicable water quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Follow established emergency response procedures during system failures, outages, or contamination events.
- Participate in ongoing training, system upgrades, and operational reviews.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Skills And Qualifications
- 5-10 years experience, prior control room (remote) experience a plus.
- Understanding of water treatment processes and water distribution systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control.
- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge related to pumps, valves, motors, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in SCADA, control, and data logging software.
- Ability to interpret system alarms and troubleshoot operational issues remotely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, anomalies, and performance issues.
- Ability to make timely decisions under pressure during system upsets or emergencies.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for coordination with field teams.
- Strong documentation skills with attention to accuracy and detail.

- Willingness to participate in continuous improvement and training initiatives.
Job Details
Pay: $70 per hour
Location: Spring, TX
Schedule: 14/14 rotational schedule with alternating day and night shifts. Holiday work and occasional coverage for additional shifts may be required based on operational needs.
